RHOC: Vicki Gunvalson Accused Of Fraud And Negligence In Lawsuit Filed By Elderly Client

The Real Housewives Of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson is in some hot water. She is being sued by an 82-year-old woman, who is accusing the reality TV star of fraud and negligence for over 20-years.

Court documents obtained by The Blast, indicate Joan Lile has filed a lawsuit against Gunvalson and her company Coto Insurance & Financial Services. She is accusing the reality TV star of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and breach of contract.

Gunvalson has been a licensed insurance broker since 1995. Joan and her husband, Robert, bought a long-term care policy from the RHOC star in 1996. The couple was looking for a specific type of insurance policy. They wanted one that indicated if one spouse passed away, all future medical premiums for the living spouse would be covered under the policy.

Joan is now claiming Gunvalson preyed on the trust of the couple. The reality TV star promised them the policy they purchased had the special provision “Lifetime Waiver of All Premiums for a Surviving Spouse,” which would meet their demand.

“This SWOP benefit was of utmost importance to the Liles because Robert Lile was significantly older than Joan Lile and wanted, above all else, to know that his wife would be protected financially upon his passing,” the legal documents said.

The lawsuit accuses Gunvalson of “fraudulently and willfully misrepresenting” the policy to the Lile’s for over 20 years, which they continued to pay increasing premiums on. However, when it came time to invoke the specific provision the couple requested, Joan learned it did not exist.

In 2017 Robert passed away, and Joan immediately tried to exercise the SWOP benefit, but the insurance company denied her. She continued to be charged for policy premiums, despite initially being told by the RHOC cast member that Joan would not have to pay them if Robert died.

82-year-old Joan Lile is suing RHOC star Vicki Gunvalson for fraud. The 57-year-old has not yet responded to the lawsuit or the fraud allegations. Court papers did not reveal precisely what Joan is suing for in terms of damages, they only state that the senior woman is suing for an unspecified amount in damages.

The lawsuit is the latest drama to surround Gunvalson, who has also been plagued with rumors about her status on the Bravo show. Despite allegations, she would only appear on the show as a “friend,” Gunvalson announced weeks ago she will be a series regular on the upcoming season.
