Real Housewives of Orange County “friend” Vicki Gunvalson is so tired of the words that are coming out of Kelly Dodd’s mouth, that the OG of the OC has filed a lawsuit against Dodd over three statements she made in front of Bravo cameras. Gunvalson has made the legal claim against Dodd because she believes the statements negatively affect both her business reputation as well as her personal relationships.
According to TMZ, Gunvalson has an issue with these three statements: “You prey on older people,” “You are a con woman,” and “you engaged in fraud.” She says that these statements are “false” and that Dodd falsely claims she knows facts about her “work capabilities, ethics, integrity, and professionalism.”
The 57-year-old Gunvalson claims that she went to Bravo producers and told them that those statements could significantly affect her ability to make money at her business, Coto Insurance and Financial Services. She says that she isn’t asking the network to cut the entire episode, but she does want those three phrases edited out.
Gunvalson is suing to get an injunction to block the episode from airing, as well as financial damages. She says in her lawsuit that “NBCUniversal will suffer no harm to their popular TV program by removing a fraction of an overall episode.”
Gunvalson actually used the pseudonym Jane Roe in her lawsuit, but there is no doubt it’s her. Roe describes herself as a TV personality on RHOC, as well as a retirement planning specialist and the president of an insurance and financial services company.
In her lawsuit, Gunvalson also notes that during her 31 years in business, her company has an A-Plus rating with the Better Business Bureau, and she has never been sued.
Gunvalson did name both the Bravo network and The Real Housewives of Orange County producers in her lawsuit at first. But she has since dropped them from the suit and is now only pursuing Dodd.
Once fans found out about the lawsuit, they went straight to social media to voice their opinion. One fan noted that Gunvalson was sued by an 82-year-old woman, and another said that they find it hilarious that Gunvalson thinks she is being defamed.
“Suing Bravo is a good way to exit,” wrote another fan. “@vgunvalson why are you suing for defamation when @RHOC_KellyDodd could do the same to you for insulating she does cocaine and bringing harm in the form of bullying to her child? Also, why are you suing NBC, your employer who even gave you the chance to be OG of the OC? #RHOC.”
Gunvalson also attempted to get a temporary restraining order against Dodd, but the court shut that down while allowing her lawsuit to move forward.
New episodes of Real Housewives of Orange County air Tuesday nights on Bravo.
