RHONJ Star Melissa Gorga Breaks Down The Real Housewives Divorce Curse

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga just provided a little more clarification on the franchise’s infamous divorce curse. Gorga gave her take on why marriages on the show often end in divorce while discussing RHONJ newcomer Jennifer Aydin.

Gorga suggested that being in front of the cameras is a somewhat liberating experience for women, especially if they have never been given the opportunity to shine outside of their roles as mothers or wives at home.

“I think she’s coming out of some type of shell. Listen, she has a lot of kids. She has five children,” Gorga shared, adding that it is Aydin’s “time to shine.”

Gorga revealed that she felt the same sense of freedom when she first joined the series. Prior to being on RHONJ, Gorga says her entire life revolved around her husband, Joe Gorga, and his work. But once she landed a part on the show, she started doing things for herself and no longer had the time to wait on Joe hand and foot.

Gorga believes this is why a lot of reality stars get divorced. The series empowers them to start careers of their own, independent of their spouses. This creates a lot of tension at home, which often results in marital issues.

When it comes to her relationship with Joe, Gorga revealed that she has learned how to make her marriage work in front of the cameras. She still allows Joe to be himself at home but also expresses her own opinions as an empowered woman. Gorga has also accepted that she is a different person from Joe and is not bothered whenever he acts out.

So far, Melissa Gorga’s insight has paid off and her relationship with Joe has remained strong, despite her involvement on the show. Whether the same holds true for Aydin, of course, is yet to be seen, but we certainly hope she can avoid the curse.
