New York entrepreneur Barbara Kavovit didn’t land a full-time spot in the cast for the upcoming season of Real Housewives of New York City, and Ramona Singer made that very clear in a recent interview. Singer had nothing positive to say about Kavovit before ultimately proclaiming that she didn’t want to talk about her, and Kavovit isn’t taking Singer’s comments lying down.
While talking to Entertainment Tonight, Singer cleared up Kavovit’s Housewives status when the interviewer described Kavovit as the “new girl” on RHONY for Season 11.
“She’s not a housewife. She’s just a friend. So… she’s not going to be a housewife,” Singer explained. “I don’t know what she is, and I don’t want to talk about her. They’re not giving her an apple or anything,”
Just days after Singer’s catty comments, Kavovit told AOL she wasn’t “surprised at Ramona’s response considering she’s nasty and condescending to most.” The Evergreen Construction founder added that Singer is someone who doesn’t support other women, and her remarks were “very on-brand.”
Kavovit questioned what type of person would say something like that and said that one of the things she learned from growing up in the Bronx and being a construction boss is that she demolishes at the job site but doesn’t tear people down.
When filming started for RHONY Season 11 last fall, rumors of Kavovit joining the cast began to make the rounds. Her addition made sense because not only is she good friends with Luann De Lesseps and Dorinda Medley, but she is also a successful businesswoman and author.

Kavovit has a degree in finance and a passion for carpentry, construction, and tools that started when she helped her dad make a bunk bed as a little girl. She said building something gives her self-esteem, and she loves that feeling.
This led to Kavovit creating her own tool kit called DIYVA by Barbara K, and she also founded a home improvement company called Stand-Ins. Kavovit says being the boss is exciting because she is responsible for things like scheduling, the budget, and making sure everything gets done. And, Barbara Kavovit loves to call herself “boss lady.”
Season 11 of the Real Housewives of New York City will premiere Wednesday, March 6th on Bravo.
