The Cars fans are mourning the passing of the rock band’s frontman, Ric Ocasek. The lead singer was 75 years old and the details about his death are yet to be shared with the public.
However, one NYPD spokesperson confirmed that Ric was ‘found unresponsive’ in his own home earlier today and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Furthermore, some reports say he was found no longer alive in his bed by his former wife, Paulina Porizkova.
Regardless, this has not been confirmed and the cause of death is still unknown to the public or perhaps everyone at this point.
Ric was known for being the guitarist as well as the lead singer of The Cars, a rock band formed in the ‘70s.
They achieved fame soon after dropping the song titled Just What I Needed (1978.)
Aside from their first big hit, other well known tracks are: My Best Friend’s Girl, Good Times Roll and Bye Bye Love, to name just a few.
Last year, the rock star was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the honor recognizing his great contribution to music.
Also in 2018, but far less fortunate, his estranged wife, Paulina, shared that they were no longer together.
She took to her IG account to write: ‘Ric and I have been peacefully separated for the past year. The love we have for one another is so wide and deep it is tangible, and that sort of love can never disappear.’
She insisted that despite their split, they were still a ‘happy family‘ but that, separating was what worked best for the two of them.
Ric and Paulina had five kids together. Rest in Peace, Ric Ocasek.
