Ricky Gervais Calls Out Celebrities For Lecturing 'Normal Nobodies' About COVID-19

British comedian Ricky Gervais has a history of calling out wealthy celebrities for being self-centered and out of touch, and he has done it again in a recent interview. Gervais had harsh words for the “multi-millionaire celebs” who lecture “normal nobodies” during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to The Sun, while speaking to BBC Radio 5, Gervais called out celebrities like Mark Ruffalo and Will Ferrell who participated in Gal Gadot’s tone deaf Imagine cover video last month.

“That Imagine video, it’s not that bad, they’re probably very nice people,” said Gervais. “It was an awful rendition, but they might have been doing it for good reasons, to help these normal nobodies. But they’re going, ‘My film’s coming up and I’m not on telly — I need to be in the public eye,’ not all of them but some of them. You can see in their eyes — ‘I could cry at the beauty of my personality, I’m just so beautiful for doing this’ and everyone sees that — we get it.”

For the second time in two weeks, Gervais called out A-listers who are complaining about being stuck in their multi-million dollar mansions for a few weeks because of the lockdowns. Gervais said you won’t hear him complain and there is no need to worry about him, not when UK National Health Service nurses are working 14-hour shifts and frontline workers are risking their health.

Gervais said that he has no problem spending his time going for walks, and they also have a garden. He added he can’t complain when he knows that there are people living in small apartments with three kids.

“This is why millionaires in their mansions with their gym and going for a swim can’t lecture people,” said Gervais.

The UK Office alum said that people are tired of being lectured by multi-millionaires who are telling them to clean out their coffee jar and put it in the right bin. Gervais noted that people know these celebrities are taking private jets to their private islands and they are “sick of it.”

Ricky Gervais is currently starring in the Netflix series Afterlife, which just released its second season on Friday, April 24. Fans on social media are already calling Season 2 “phenomenal.”
