According to a report from Page Six, Robert Downey Junior recently shared his experience following a Howard Stern interview in which he almost got into a fistfight with an industry executive as he asked him to move away from the Sirius XM speaker system.
The 54-year-old Avengers star stated he was in front of the TV screen when the exec said to him, “out of the way.” When Mr. Downey Junior told him he and his group were “taking in the show” before it hit the airwaves, the man then said to him, “who the f*ck are you?”
For a moment, Downey considered making the interaction physical, however, he thought about it further and realized it wasn’t that big of a deal, and the man’s behavior was likely a consequence of his “ego.” According to Mr. Junior, big-named executives often think they’re above other people and lash out when people don’t supplicate to them the way they want.
Fans of the actor know he has a raucous past, including substance abuse issues among other transgressions. Downey Junior is considered as the epitome of the Hollywood comeback story, considering he nearly tanked his career as a consequence of heavy drinking and purported misbehavior.
These days, it’s hard to believe, now that he just starred in the most successful movie franchise of all time, The Avengers. However, many years ago, claims a report from DrugAbuse.com, Robert was almost unable to work due to his drug problems. Moreover, his addiction once landed him in prison as well.
Robert comes from a long line of entertainment industry figures, including his father, Robert Downey Senior, who also struggled with substance abuse issues and even allowed his son to try marijuana when he was just 6-years-old.
Reported by People back in 1996, the article claimed that Robert and his father had a strong bond related to drug use. It led to Downey Junior becoming an alcoholic later in life. Even though that was the case, he later became one of the most successful actors in Hollywood in the mid to late 80s.
In addition to starring in The Avengers, Robert had a role in Saturday Night Live for one season, and also had parts in films like Weird Science as well as The Pick-Up Artist in 1987.
