When it was announced to the public that Robert Pattinson would be the new Batman, everyone was taken by surprise. After all, he is best known for playing Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies so it sounded like a pretty crazy transition!

However, as it turns out, the actor also thinks it sounds ‘insane!’

Fans of the DC universe could not stand the thought that someone associated with Twilight would portray their beloved Bruce Wayne!

But is it really such a big change going from a ‘bat’ to Batman?

When you put it like that, maybe not but in reality, going from a sparkly vampire to the favorite comic book hero of many is quite the shift.

“It is kind of insane. I was far away from ever thinking it was a realistic prospect. I do not understand how I got it, at all,’ Pattinson also admitted while chatting with Esquire.

In reality, he got the iconic role because he campaigned for it.

He previously told Variety that ‘When I was a kid, [a Batman costume] was the only outfit I had.’

Furthermore, he revealed that he chased the role more than anyone else as soon as he learned a new script was in the works!

‘I’d had Batman in my mind for a while. It’s such an absurd thing to say. I had an idea to do it, and I had been prodding Matt. He did not accept any prods. I kept asking to meet him. When that thing leaked, I was f**ing furious. Everybody was so upset. Everybody was panicking from my team. I thought that had blown up the whole thing,’ the actor shared.

But obviously, that did not affect his chances at all as he got the part after auditioning anyway!
