Russell Simmons Spotted In The Hamptons After Post-Sexual Assault Case Flee To Bali

According to a report from Page Six, Russell Simmons was recently spotted in the Hamptons following his flee to Bali, purportedly to get away from the sexual assault and harassment allegations that came to surface amid the #MeToo movement’s beginning in 2017.

Ever since the hip-hop icon was accused of sexual misconduct, including rape, in 2017 – which he has vehemently and repeatedly denied – the music industry mogul has been out of the public spotlight. Reportedly, the performer was out having a vegan meal on Sunday with some of his friends at the Brooklyn Chop House while at the Capri Hotel in Southampton.

Furthermore, Simmons took to his Instagram this past week to say he was at Lyor Cohen’s party. Russel said, “I saw so many people who I played a small role in empowering.” Some people on social media, as well as in the media, claimed Russell is too “proud” in the wake of the accusations.

Reportedly, the Def Jam Records founder was accused of rape and/or misconduct by more than 10 women. This past April, The Blast obtained documents showing one of his accusers accusing him of fleeing to another country without an extradition treaty for the sake of protecting himself.

His representative, on the other hand, countered these claims, stating that he has returned to the United States of America a whopping total of six times since the controversy first began.

Russell’s friends have appeared to support him, including his former roommate, who claims he never once saw Russell get physically aggressive with any women.

According to a report from All HipHop, Russell Simmon’s recent request to have the case thrown out by the presiding judge was denied. Russell and his lawyer claim that the accuser in question refuses to indicate the date of the supposed incident because then it would be outside of the statute of limitations.

As it was previously reported, Russell’s case first came to prominence after Jenny Lumet wrote a long essay detailing her experiences with the Def Jam Records co-founder as a guest columnist for The Hollywood Reporter. After these accusations came out, many other women came forward.
