Ruth E. Carter Releases Statement After Announcement She's Getting A Star On Hollywood's Walk Of Fame

Ruth E. Carter, the Oscar-winning costume designer behind Black Panther has plenty of celebrating to do. She not only won an Oscar but earlier in June became one of the 2019-2020 Academy Award’s Board of Governors. It was now announced that Ruthe E. Carter is getting her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In addition to Marvel’s Black Panther, Ruth E. Carter is the costuming force behind movies such as Malcolm X, Amistad, Selma,  Sparkle, and Lee Daniels’ The Butler. She’s also currently designing the costumes for Coming to America 2.

After the announcement was made, Ruth E. Carter shared a public statement about the honor on her official Twitter account. Ruth E. Carter stated the following.

“⭐️ ALL the STARS are CLOSER! ⭐️ Especially those on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! ⭐️ I raise my star, thankful for my life, ⭐️ to embrace the people who know my journey and are very proud of me and of my work. And now that history is made I raise my star as I am forever grateful!”

Ruth E. Carter burst on the scene in 1979 when she was the associate producer of the Ed Asner, Meredith Baxter movie The Family Man. She found her calling, passion, and lifelong career direction when in 1988 she joined up with Spike Lee for the first time and was the costume designer for his movie School Daze. Over the next few years, she worked with Spike Lee as a costume designer for the movies I’m Gonna Git You Sucker, Do The Right Thing, Mo’ Better Blues, Jungle Fever, Crooklyn, Malcolm X, Da Sweet Blood of Jesus, Bamboozled, Chi-Raq and more. Though she has worked with Spike Lee extensively, she has also worked on many other sets. Her venture with Disney and Marvel seems to be providing her further advancements in her already groundbreaking, and successful career.

In addition to Black Panther, Ruth E. Carter has been the costume designer for movies such as Shaft, House Party 2,What’s Love Got to Do With It, Black Dynamite and many more. Ruth E.
