Ryan Lochte has a new life perspective following his time in rehab and welcoming a new baby into his little family.

Now that his swimming ban is officially a thing of the past, fans want to know if he is gearing up for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo?

It has been a turbulent three years for the 12-time Olympic medalist, but it has also been one heck of a learning experience. Earlier this week Lochte got real about his 14-month ban from competitive swimming, as well as his decision to go to seek treatment for alcohol dependency.

“I think it was getting to a point in my life where I needed a change,” he admitted during a US Swimming National Championships press conference.

Lochte went on to share he knew he needed to get his head on straight when it came to his alcohol abuse for the sake of his children.

“Since Caiden and my new daughter Liv has been born, I have a new perspective on life, and I’m definitely not the same person as I was. On a daily basis, I’m just trying to be the best version of myself that I can be. I went there because I needed help. I needed to change some things in my life. That’s what I went there for, and I came out a better man,” the swimmer shared.

Caiden is Lochte’s 2-year old son, and Liv is his 1-month old daughter with his wife, Kayla Rae Reid. The couple got married in January of 2018 in a courthouse wedding but tied the knot again that September in a more traditional ceremony.

Now that he is back in the pool and competing again in swimming, will Lochte be on the platform in Tokyo? If all goes well, fans will see him attempt to win another Olympic medal.

“I’ve had a lot of ups and downs, as you guys all know because it’s been so public. But I’m just here to race, and I have my [sights] set for 2020,” he said of scandals and legal issues since the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Ryan Lochte has a new lease on life following the birth of his daughter and the time he spent in rehab. Now the swimmer wants to put the past behind him as he focuses on being up on the winning podium come next summer.
