Ryan Phillippe has settled the alleged assault case against him involving his ex-girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt.

The model sued the actor after an incident that occurred in 2017. Hewitt claims he kicked, punched and threw her down the stairs. She filed a civil suit against Phillippe for the violence that occurred during one of their fights.

In court documents filed at the time, Hewitt stated her boyfriend left a party because she was allegedly ignoring him. When the model returned to Phillippe’s house later that night to pack up her things, the violent fight erupted. She reportedly had a friend with her when the events of the night unfolded.

The LAPD at the time confirmed they were called to Phillippe’s house after a domestic disturbance call was received. Cops took a police report into the alleged attack and granted Hewitt an emergency restraining order against the Shooter star.

People magazine has confirmed two years after the altercation, Hewitt and Phillippe have reached a settlement. The 45-year-old Hollywood star filed settlement papers with the court on Thursday, October 11th.

An attorney for Phillippe listed October 4th as the day an agreement was reached. The case was set to go to trial on October 15th. Details of the settlement have not been revealed and are likely sealed as part of the arrangement.

Phillippe has maintained his innocence since the altercation in July 2017. Shortly after the incident, he used Twitter to deny all allegations against him, as well as express the seriousness of domestic violence.

“Domestic violence is a very real and tragic issue faced by many women the world over and should never be used to vengefully slander or as a ploy for monetary gain. This is wrong. This is not who I am. Every one of my accuser’s allegations are false,” he wrote.

It looks like Reese Witherspoon will not have to testify in her ex-husband’s alleged abuse case. A couple of days ago, it was revealed the Big Little Lies starlet was going to be questioned regarding Phillippe’s use of drugs and alcohol. Hewitt believed his use of both fueled her altercation with the actor.

Neither Phillippe nor Hewitt have commented on the settlement.
