Sacha Baron Cohen May Have Taken Down A Pedophile Ring

Sacha Baron Cohen may have just taken down a pedophile ring, the actor revealed to Deadline.  According to the interview, a disturbing incident occurred when Cohen was filming his series Who Is America for Showtime. The series, though controversial, has been nominated for a Golden Globe. While discussing the show, Cohen detailed the harrowing tale.

Known for portraying many characters, Sacha Baron Cohen was in character as Gio when he interviewed O.J. Simpson. Cohen said his goal was to get O.J. to make a confession. The discussion caused Cohen to reflect on other times he was in the Gio character and then he delved into details regarding the possible pedophile ring.

Saying that the incident didn’t make it to the show, the episode explored themes of greed. Cohen explained he wanted to test the waters and see how far people go for greed.

Cohen said it was the height of the Harvey Weinstein scandal and he wanted to find out how someone could get away with horrific crimes for so long.

While in Las Vegas, Cohen interviewed a concierge in character as Gio. He told the concierge he had molested an eight-year-old boy and the conversation turned into ways to silence the child. The concierge gave Cohen a chilling response.

Cohen asked the concierge for help in taking care of the “problem.” Here is what happened according to Deadline.

“And this guy starts advising Gio how to get rid of this issue. We even at one point talk about murdering the boy, and the concierge is just saying, ‘well, listen, I’m really sorry. In this country, we can’t just drown the boy. This is America we don’t do that.’ And then, in the end, he puts me in touch with a lawyer who can silence the boy. I became really dark stuff. And then at the end of the interview, I say, listen, I want to go out and celebrate now. Can you get me a date for tonight? He says, ‘what do you mean, a date?’ I go, you know, like a young man. He says, ‘well, what kind of age?’ I say, lower than Bar Mitzvah but older than eight. And he says, ‘yeah, I can put you in touch with somebody who can get you some boys like that.’”

Cohen says there was no comedy in the skit, it was never used, and he and the team promptly notified the FBI and got them involved.

Cohen also said that the FBI chose not to pursue it, but that might not be the case. It is possible they are investigating it and didn’t want it publicly known.

Sacha Baron Cohen said he was also concerned as the concierge had mentioned working for politicians and business people as well.
