Smith revealed that ‘In the past, if I’ve ever done a photo shoot with so much as a t-shirt on, I’ve starved myself for weeks in advance and then picked and prodded at every single picture and then normally taken the picture down.’

But the 26-year-old made it clear that he has now decided to fight back against his own mental trauma regarding his shape, saying he is determined to ‘Reclaim my body and stop trying to change these curves that my mum and dad made and love so unconditionally.’

Finally, Sam explained that ‘Some may take this as showing off, but if you knew the body trauma I’ve experienced as a kid and how much courage it took to do this,  you would not think those things. Thank you for helping me celebrate my body AS IT IS [photographer] @ryanpfluger I’ve never felt safer than with you. I will always be at war with the bloody mirror but this shoot and this day was a step in the right direction.’

That was without a doubt a very brave thing to do, and the talented singer’s followers made sure to shower him with love and praise him for opening up like that.

One fan told the artist that he is a ‘beautiful person’ and that is both on the inside as well as the outside!
