Back in the summer of 2017, Selena Gomez underwent a life-saving kidney transplant, and it was her bestie Francia Raisa who donated the kidney. A little more than a year later – in October 2018 – Gomez checked into a mental health facility after suffering an emotional breakdown, and insiders say that she hasn’t spoken to Raisa since.

The 31-year-old Raisa donated her kidney to Gomez because the 27-year-old singer’s kidneys were failing due to complications from Lupus, and at the time Gomez said that Raisa gave her “the ultimate gift,” and she was “incredibly blessed.”

She also promised to get healthy, but not long after the transplant Gomez was drinking alcohol again, and she said in an interview with Elle Magazine that she didn’t care what people thought about it.

“As far as my personal life, someone sees me having a glass of wine? I could give two s***s. I’m not trying to hide. That’s my life,” said Gomez.

But, it was her hard partying that eventually led to her rehab stint, and rheumatologist Dr. Robert Fafalak – who has not treated Gomez – says that when someone who suffers from Lupus continues to drink alcohol it can be fatal.

Gomez’s decision to continue with the party lifestyle after the transplant took its toll on Raisa, who said she went through agony – both emotionally and physically – after donating her kidney. It appears that Gomez and Raisa are no longer on speaking terms and they haven’t been seen together in more than a year.

Each year on July 22nd, Raisa has consistently wished Gomez a “Happy Birthday” via social media, but this year she didn’t mention it. According to Radar Online, the two had a fight because of Gomez’s “unhealthy choices” and because she didn’t follow through on her promises.

“Selena did the exact opposite of what she said she was going to do when she got well again. She said she was not going to drink anymore, but she did,” says an insider.

The source says that Raisa still loves and cares about Gomez, but after she called the Hands to Myself singer out for her behavior she “shut her out.”

Gomez is now in a much better place after going to treatment, but that doesn’t mean she has repaired her friendship with Raisa. The insider says that Raisa has been through so much, she isn’t sure that she can be part of Gomez’s life again.
