Selena Gomez Launches New Makeup Line Called Rare Beauty

Selena Gomez is enjoying a positive time in her life and after the launch of an incredibly successful album, she announced on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, that she’s also launching a new makeup line called Rare Beauty. The title of Selena’s album is Rare and in an interview with NPR she discussed the meaning of the title and why she chose to tattoo the word on her neck. Selena has made it very clear that she takes social media and the impact it has on youth seriously. She was behind the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why and often shares messages about not letting social media define the way young people see themselves.

Selena made the announcement about the new Rare Beauty collection on her social media platforms and shared a video with her 167.8 million Instagram followers. You may read the caption she shared below.

In Selena Gomez’s Instagram story where she discussed the beauty line, she stated that she has stopped trying to be perfect and just wants to be herself. Selena stated the following.

“Being rare is about being comfortable with yourself. I’ve stopped trying to be perfect. I just wanna be me.”

It was clear that her makeup line is geared towards people expressing, valuing, and appreciating their own unique beauty and not wearing makeup to impress other people or make the world happy, but to make yourself happy.

Fans are thrilled that Selena is taking this step and joining the beauty industry and were surprised to learn she had been creating her beauty line for two years. She has been through a long, emotional journey since her split from Justin Bieber, his marriage to Hailey Bieber (nee Baldwin) and her lupus flare-up that resulted in her having a kidney transplant.
