Sharon Osbourne Reveals Her Experience With America's Got Talent & NBC Amid Gabrielle Union Controversy

Numerous celebrities have spoken up in support of Gabrielle Union after NBC and America’s Got Talent decided not to renew her contract after just one season on the show. Multiple outlets are reporting that AGT producers fired Union after she complained of a toxic work environment, and now former judge Sharon Osbourne is speaking out about her experience on the popular series.

Osbourne was a judge from Season 2 to Season 7, leaving in 2012. And, she said on Monday’s episode of The Talk that AGT was a great show to work on, but she doesn’t have anything good to say about NBC.

“Everybody’s experience on a show is different, and I was at that show for six years. I didn’t get let go,” explained Osbourne. “I left. And that’s the truth. I left because NBC, not because of the show. I had my own problems with the network. I don’t know about any of her [Union] concerns about the show.”

Osbourne said that there wasn’t anybody of color on the panel when she was on AGT, so she couldn’t honestly talk about that. But, when she was there, the crew and everybody were amazing. Everybody, except the network.

Osbourne told the New York Post in 2012 that she left AGT because NBC unexpectedly cut ties with her son Jack, who was supposed to work on a reality series titled Stars Earn Stripes. The premise was for celebrities to go up against each other in military training exercises. But, after doctors diagnosed Jack with multiple sclerosis, NBC fired him two days before he was scheduled to start the show.

“I just can’t be fake,” Osbourne said at the time.”It’s discrimination, and it was badly handled.”

On Tuesday’s episode of The Talk, Osbourne had more things to say about NBC, and she agreed with Howard Stern’s comment that Simon Cowell constantly replaces hot chicks with hotter chicks and younger chicks, and it’s the “ultimate boys club.”

“It is a boys club, it is and the boys take care of each other and the women are not paid as much as the men,” said Osbourne.

She also pointed out that the ratings for AGT were much higher when Cowell wasn’t on the show. Osbourne added that Cowell does the same thing in the UK with the X Factor. Cowell is on that panel, too, along with LA Reid and two females. Osbourne says every time it comes on there are “different little girls” like Demi Lovato and Britney Spears.

“Now, the guys looked like two high rollers in Vegas who picked up a couple of kids,” said Osbourne. “They looked like dirty old men beside these two little girls and I was open, I told LA Reid and I told Simon, it’s nothing I wouldn’t say to their face. You look like two dirty old men, these are kids, they can’t be judging other kids, no matter how successful they are.”

Osbourne then went back to discussing AGT and said that she doesn’t begrudge anyone for what they earn, but it’s a boys club and the guys get special privileges. She gave the example that she had to fly commercial while they guys flew private.

After Carrie Ann Inaba read NBC’s statement on the controversy, Sharon Osbourne said, “Stick together you guys. NBC can kiss my a**!”
