Grab a tissue. One year ago, both Shaquille and Shaunie O’Neal went through the worst day of their lives as they watched their son, Shareef, undergo open-heart surgery at the young age of 20.

The family took to social media to share some very personal photos along with emotional messages that made fans cry.

On a lighter note, Shareef has recently shocked everyone — his mother included — by revealing a brand new tattoo he got of his mom’s face, right on his arm.
