Shaunie O’Neal and her entire family are celebrating the successful surgery of her son, Shareef O’Neal, a UCLA sophomore and basketball star who recently underwent heart surgery.
Shareef, the son of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, had a routine physical in late 20108 when doctors discovered a heart ailment.
Shaunie said on her TV show Basketball Wives that her Shareef “could’ve died from it,” if doctors did not spot the matter.
Shaunie got emotional as she confessed: “[It’s] an artery that just grows in the wrong place. He was born with it. He literally could’ve died from it. They let us know Shareef needed open-heart surgery. I felt my heartbreak. This is definitely the hardest thing we’ve ever had to face in our lives.”
Shaunie put together The Love Event to thank all of those who showed love and support while Shareef was fighting for his life.
Shaunie shared a few pictures and used this caption: “I threw The Love Event to love on all of our family and friends who cared for and showered our family during @shareefoneal surgery! Thank you to my amazing team @elmnt13 for always bringing my vision to life! @djstephfloss, @calligkatrinarentals, @joiadamsonweddings, @tenplus_design & @thesocialitebooth. ❤️❤️❤️❤️”
She added: “If anyone knows me, you know I love a party with a photo booth!!! I also LOVE MY FAMILY & FRIENDS!!!! #LoveEvent #basketballwives.”
One follower shared: “Beautiful😍 always good to capture moments! I used to get upset w/ my mom when I was little, but I get it now!! We have to treasure each moment. ❤️”
Another commenter stated: “Nice pic and I am so happy your baby is doing better …Sending you and your family lots of hugs, love, and constant prayers. So happy he is ok and to see the love between you and Shaq! Get back together!!!!!❤️❤️❤️.”
This fan explained: “This was beautiful 💕 🙌🏾 Thankful your son is healing and gaining strength daily!💙Shaunie Jennifer talking about Shaq doesn’t mean she’s attacking your whole damn family, seriously knock it off. You don’t want to admit you are defensive over a man who doesn’t want you anymore and you bring the kids into it to legitimize it. It’s ok be mad she’s dragging Shaq’s name in the mud. It’s ok you and Shaq are great friends and partners in raising your kids. Stick up for that!! 🙆🏻”
Some are wondering if Shaq and Shaunie will not get back together in the future.
