A new report from Page Six says Simon Cowell was in surgery for six hours on Saturday after he broke his back in an E-bike crash. Sources who spoke with the outlet claim the reality television mogul is now staying at his home in Malibu, California to recover.
Sources close to the America’s Got Talent star say that it was a “long surgery,” and they had to weld bones back together and put a rod in his spine. Even though it was a brutal accident, the insider claims Simon will be ok and it should only take a few months to recover.
Page Six says the 60-year-old reality television star was taken to the hospital after he fell straight on his back after riding an electric bike in the backyard of his house. A representative for Simon confirmed the news, stating that he underwent surgery the same evening.
Fans of Simon know he spent much of his quarantine time hanging out with his girlfriend, Lauren Silverman, as well as their 6-year-old son together, Eric. She has a 14-year-old child from another romance. Reportedly, Simon started biking as part of a weight-loss routine.
He managed to lose 60 pounds. During a conversation with Extra, Simon confirmed he lost 60 pounds since first starting the routine. Simon Cowell first became a household name due to his appearance on American Idol amid its first seasons. Simon acted as a judge on the groundbreaking TV show from 2002 until 2010.
It’s clear that even the most successful are subject to accidents sometimes, and this wouldn’t be the first time a celebrity broke bones over the last year and a half.
Last year, it was reported that Halle Berry spoke with Entertainment Tonight about filming for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. During her conversation with reporters, Halle said she had broken three ribs while filming.
She admitted that filming John Wick 3 was definitely one of the most taxing and rigorous things she has ever done. The star said she had been training for half-a-year beforehand. And it was for good reason. John Wick 3 was a box office and critical success.
