Soap Actor Jed Allan Dead At Age 84, Ian Ziering Pays Tribute To His Beverly Hills 90210 Dad

Soap actor Jed Allan has died at the age of 84. He was best known for his roles on the NBC soap operas Days of Our Lives and Santa Barbara. However, many will likely remember him as Steve Saunders dad Rush on the 90’s drama Beverly Hills 90210.

News broke late Saturday evening that the beloved father of three passed away. His son Rick shared a loving message from the family on social media.

“So sorry to post the very sad news of my father’s passing tonight. He died peacefully and was surrounded by his family and loved so much by us and so many others,” Rick revealed.

The long-time character actor had a fantastic career in Hollywood. He began his journey playing the infamous Edward L. Quartermaine on General Hospital back in the 1960s. Allan would spend years on of some daytime’s hottest soap operas, as well as a short-lived stint as a game show host of Celebrity Bowling back in the 1970s.

Allan went on to become a fixture on the set of Beverly Hills 90210 as Steve’s not so nice dad. He played the role for over five years, earning him a whole new group of fans. His TV son used social media to express his condolences on social media.

“So sad to hear we’ve lost another 90210 castmate. I had the pleasure of working with Jed Allan from 94 to 99. He played Rush Sanders, Steve’s father. Such a great guy to work with, he will be missed. #ripjedallan,” shared Ian Ziering.

Jed Allan was survived by his three sons, Mitch, Dean, and Rick. The loving father lost his wife of 43 years, Toby Brown, in 2001. He remained living in their family in Palm Springs until his death.

The soap opera community has seen an outpour of love and sadness since the news of Allan’s passing broke. His friend and former Santa Barbara costar A. Martinez wrote a heartfelt tribute to the man who significantly.

“Jed Allan walked on today. Along the way in his fantastic acting career, he played Eden’s father CC Capwell on Santa Barbara. His gift was a formidable blend of professionalism and inspiration a perennial rock in his preparation and a force of nature once the cameras rolled.” wrote A. Martinez beginning a lengthy post, which also included a YouTube video dedicated to Allan.
