Star Wars Celebration Gets a Dash of Indiana Jones Thrown In As Harrison Ford Announces Release Date for The Upcoming Film

The Star Wars Celebration event began on Thursday 26 May and was full of surprises from the very first day. One of the most beloved individuals in the Star Wars universe, Harrison Ford himself showed up to the delight of all the fans present. And Han Solo came bearing great news, announcing that the next Indiana Jones movie will be hitting cinemas around the world on 30 June 2023.
The wait is a long one no doubt but Indiana Jones is another one of Ford’s iconic characters and fans were delighted to have a confirmation of Indie’s return to the big screen. This news also comes after much delay to the project which was originally announced to be released on July 10 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic devastated all industries around the world and the film industry was no different. Following the pandemic the film’s release was delayed to July 29 2022 however fate was not ready for Indiana Jones just yet and Harrison Ford ended up injuring his shoulder while rehearsing one of the fight scenes for this movie. The injury resulted in Ford taking a full summer break from shooting pushing back the production even further. With so many delays already fans are keeping their fingers crossed for 2023 as Harrison Ford prepares to pick up the old hat and whip for the fifth and last time.
With the director of Ford v Ferrari, James Mangold taking charge and the cast including legendary names such as Mads Mikkelsen, the untitled final instalment to the Indiana Jones franchise promises to give Indie a proper send off.
The first Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark released way back in 1981, making this one of the longest running movie franchises of all time. Spanning across 4 decades this franchise has seen the likes of Sean Connery, Alfred Molina, Kate Blanchet and even Shia Labeouf.
Harrison Ford also announced to the audience in Anaheim, California that the film will once again include the iconic score of the Indiana Jones movies written by John Williams for the first Indiana Jones movie in 1981.
