Real Housewives of Orange County fans are still reeling from the news that Bravo demoted OG of the OC Vicki Gunvalson to friend status for Season 14 after being a full-time cast member since the show debuted in 2006. While Gunvalson has been keeping up appearances since the news broke, star Tamra Judge says that Gunvalson is “sad” about the demotion.
Judge recently posted a video of old RHOC footage that featured the two ladies partying hard, and in the caption, the 51-year-old wrote that they were “two drunk housewives” with hats, tans, beer, and “12 years of crazy shenanigans.”

“I love you, I hate you!” wrote Judge. “I’ve gone through so much with you my friend.”
Judge added that Gunvalson is her BFF, and it makes her sad that she is sad right now. Then she finished the post by telling Gunvalson that she loves her.
Bravo released the Real Housewives of Orange County Season 14 trailer on July 3rd – along with the official cast photo – and it was a surprise to many fans that Gunvalson was no longer a full-time cast member. Judge, Kelly Dodd, Shannon Storms Beador, Emily Simpson, and Gina Kirschenheiter are all returning this season, and newbie Braunwyn Windham-Burke will be joining them.
In addition to losing her full-time status, Reality Blurb is reporting that Gunvalson also received a massive pay cut and will be earning $20,000 for each episode that she appears in. When she was a full-timer, Gunavlson was making $60,000 per episode, which added up to $1.26 million per season.
The upcoming season will feature 21 episodes, and if Gunvalson appeared in all of them she would take home $420,000. However, as a friend of the show, the chances of her appearing in every episode are slim to none.
“A new Housewife begs for $5,000 an episode, so for Vicki to be getting that much she is very lucky,” says an insider.
When the news of her demotion broke, Vicki Gunvalson wrote on Instagram that she will be back this season in a different role, but she will still be in the middle of the action. She added that she hopes fans will enjoy watching the show as much as she enjoyed living her life in front of Bravo cameras.
“She will continue to appear on the show as a friend for seasons to come because she’s a household name. No one sees the network making her a main cast member again. Unless the season completely tanks,” says the source.
Season 14 of the Real Housewives of Orange County premieres Tuesday, August 6th on Bravo.
