Taylor’s ex-manager reportedly bought her back catalog, despite Swift believing that the former owner of Big Machine Records wouldn’t do that because Taylor and Braun reportedly didn’t get along well. Swift’s lawyer corroborated her allegation, stating that Scott Borchetta never allowed Taylor the right to buy her back catalog.

Donald Passman, in a statement to Us Weekly, claimed that Scott allowed for the purchase of the masters with a check, but didn’t do the very same thing for Taylor. Following the news revealed this past Sunday, the 30th of June, Taylor, 29, took to her Tumblr account to say that Braun bought her back catalog.

Swift said that for years, she asked and even pleaded for the chance to actually own her music. However, Taylor claimed she was given the opportunity to “sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time.”

Swift said she had to walk away from the contract because Scott Borcheta was going to sell the label, as well as her art and her persona, so she had to make the decision to walk away. Swift said she first learned of Scooter’s purchase of her music when it was announced to the rest of the world.

Furthermore, Swift said she was a victim of Scooter’s manipulative and bullying-esque behavior. The pop-star said never in her worst nightmares did she ever think Scooter Braun would buy the rights to her music. On the Big Machine Records website, Scott countered this claim, stating that Taylor left the record label, and therefore missed the opportunity.

As most know, Scooter Braun has a massive clientele list, including some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry such as Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber, and Kanye West. Reportedly, Scooter hasn’t responded to the allegation made by Taylor, however, he has responded to congratulatory messages from other people.

A source close to the mega-manager said Scooter has zero intention to release a public statement and would discuss it with Taylor in private, however, he wouldn’t add to the media frenzy.
