After learning about his battle with cancer, Taylour Paige, is even more impressed by Chadwick Boseman‘s acting in their upcoming movie Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. That being said, while the late actor’s co-star already thought he should be receiving an Oscar for his performance, knowing now that he was able to portray such a role all the while keeping his illness a secret, she is even more in awe at his talent and strength!

As you know, Chadwick Boseman passed away earlier this year at the age of 43 after battling colon cancer for no less than 4 years without the public ever knowing.

This will be his last role on screen since the Black Panther actor shot all his scenes for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom before his untimely death and the film is set to be released in December.

‘I didn’t know he was sick. People are going to be stunned by his performance [in Ma Rainey], but now I feel he should win an Oscar just for acting like he was OK,’ Taylour Paige argued during an interview for ET.

As for the last movie to drop while he was still alive, it was, as fans know, Da 5 Bloods and its director, Spike Lee was also not aware of Boseman’s quiet battle with cancer while filming.

During an interview with Variety, Lee shared that ‘He did not look well, but my mind never took that he had cancer. It was a very strenuous shoot… The jungle stuff, was shot in Thailand. It was 100 degrees every day. It was at that time the worst air pollution in the world as well. I understand why Chadwick didn’t tell me, because he didn’t want me to take it easy. If I had known, I wouldn’t have made him do the stuff. And I respect him for that.’
