It was already renewed for its seventh season. The 100 is now joining the ranks of Arrow and Supernatural. Both shows are also saying goodbye at the end of their respective 8th and 15th seasons.

“With #The100 Season 6 finale just days away, I have some bittersweet news to share: Season 7 will be our last. We are eternally grateful to WB & CW for always allowing us to tell our story the way we want to & to wrap the show on our terms. What an incredible ride this has been!” Rothernberg tweeted.

The show will end with its 100th episode, and the irony is not lost on fans, who immediately took to Twitter to discuss the cancelation.

“#The100 will indeed end with episode 100 at the end of Season 7. It’ll be sad to say goodbye but running for that many years is an awesome achievement – and how perfect is that episode count? So glad they have the time to wrap it up on their own terms,” wrote @TheEricGoldman

“This is a *gift*. Getting to end the show as we wish is a rare blessing. All the gratitude to WB and The CW for their support over the years. 100 episodes of #The100. What a ride,” shared show writer @kimshum

“The heart, the head, and the soul of the 100. I’m not ready to say goodbye to them. not yet,” Tweeted @avgrpls

Along with Rothenberg’s Tweet the official Twitter account for The 100 also shared the cancelation news.

“I’m sorry to announce that season 7 will be the last season of #The100. Thank you to the writers, the actors, the producers and everyone involved for giving us such a wonderful show,” @CW_The100

The 100 has been canceled. Sadly, the show will come to an end after Season 7. It now joins a list of long-standing The CW shows that are saying goodbye. iZombie, Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend all wrapped up their stints this year.
