The 80s Sensation Bo Hopkins Who Starred In The TV Classic, 'Dynasty' Passes Away At 80 Years Old

Fans of film and TV all over America and the world were struck with a sad news on Saturday 28 may as it was revealed that veteran actor Bo Hopkins passed away at the age of 80 years old.

Hopkins was a beloved TV personality throughout the 70s and 80s known primarily for his rugged handsome persona which he brought to all of his roles.

Hopkins is most prominently remembered for his role in the 80s TV’s classic Dynasty, in which he played the role of Mathew Blaisedell for 18 episodes.

The news of Hopkin’s passing was announced on his website with a message posted that informed fans of his passing and of how much he appreciated fans e-mailing from around the world even if he couldn’t answer to all of them due to his old age.

Bo Hopkins was born in 1942 in Greenville, South Carolina. He began his acting career in 1966 when he made an appearance on “The Phyllis Diller Show.” Hopkins continued to pursue acting with some of his more major projects coming out in the 70s including the 1973 American Graffiti which was directed by the legendary George Lucas, creator of the classic franchises like Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

During much success throughout the 70s and the 80s, Hopkins would appear on several popular shows of the time including  the 1976 Charlie’s Angels, 1983 The A-Team, and Hotel which came out in 1983.

Hopkin appeared on screen for what nobody knew to be his final project in HillBilly Elegy in 2020 where he was joined by Ron Howard, whom Hopkins worked with in American Graffiti.

His other fellow actor from the movie included Glenn Close who posted a heartfelt goodbye to Hopkins on her Instagram the day that the news of Hopkins passing away was put out. Close commented on her privilege to have had the chance to work with Hopkins and that while Hopkins may have been a “bad boy” in the 80s but he was a sweet and kind old man today.

Hopkins has a wife Eleanor Green whom he had been with for 30 years, one son Mathew Hopkins and one daughter named Jane Hopkins.
