'This Is Us' Season 3 Finale Answers "Her" Question And Raises New Ones As Exit Door Opens For One Character

Fans of the hit NBC drama This Is Us have been waiting to find out the answer to a major question for a while now – who is the mysterious “her” that they saw in the flash forwards?

So it only took the showrunners a whole season to let the cat out of the bag.

The finale for Season 3 finally revealed the identity of the character as the future version of Rebecca Pearson portrayed by Mandy Moore.

From what was shown in the episode, the woman is apparently on her deathbed, surrounded by family members.

Fans have pointed out various details about the scene that seem to imply certain things.

For example, her husband, Miguel Rivas (Jon Huertas) is nowhere to be seen.

It is not clear how Rebecca’s relationship might have played out in the future, but the scene has indeed brought up some questions with the show’s fans.

Another revelation that came with the last episode was that Rebecca also has a grandson from her son, Kevin, but not much was revealed about his identity, nor did we see any other details about that part of the family tree.

As can be expected, fans have immediately started to speculate about the revelation and what it could mean.

In another shocking twist, Zoe (Melanie Liburd) broke up with Kevin. It seems that the actress will not be returning as a series regular in the fall.

Show producer Isaac Aptaker revealed: “We don’t want to hold on to her and then not have the real estate for her. She’s an amazing actress, and she has a ton of opportunities… We don’t want to stop her from [getting another full-time gig].”

He also added: “Whenever there are opportunities for Zoe to come back—which [would be] pretty organic because she touches on Kevin’s life as well as, of course, Beth and Randall’s life — we are eager to have her back. …We love Melanie so much. She’s a friend of the show, and she did an amazing job for us; we love her both as an actor and as a person.”

The new episode titled “Her” has brought up even more questions than the finale for Season 2, and it looks like fans are in for many surprises in the show’s future episodes.

The producers seem to have some fascinating ideas for the plot, and hopefully, they will get to realize them before the production becomes too stale in the eyes of fans.

Season 4 is set to premiere in September.
