Late last month, This Is Us star Justin Hartley surprised friends and family when he filed for divorce from his wife of two years, Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause, just one week after the couple attended a Golden Globes Party in West Hollywood together and appeared to be happy and in love. Now, the split has taken an even weirder turn after Stause filed her response.

When Hartley filed for divorce, he cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, and he listed the date of separation as July 8, 2019. The 42-year-old actor also made it clear he didn’t want to pay spousal support or Stause’s legal fees. However, the couple had been spotted together numerous times since that date, and they both posted sweet things about each other on social media.

In her response, Stause listed the date of separation as November 22, 2019, which is the same day Hartley filed for divorce. She also requested spousal support from Hartley and asked that he pay her legal fees.

Since Hartley filed, Stause has removed the words “wife” and “stepmom” off of her Instagram bio – Hartley shares a 15-year-old daughter with his first wife, Lindsay Korman. And, she also posted a quote from author Nishan Panwar.

“It’s hard to watch people change right in front of you. But it’s even harder remembering who they used to be,” read the quote.

In addition to the Golden Globes party, Hartley and Stause also hosted a viewing party on November 16th for his former Young and the Restless co-star Melissa Claire Egan, who also happens to be Stause’s best friend. Egan even posted a group pic from the evening and praised Hartley and Stause.

“SO lucky for these friends, and so lucky for my besties @chrishellhartley & @justinhartley, throwing a screening party for “Holiday for Heroes” tonight. Best friends ever. If you missed it, it will air again, check it out! @hallmarkmovie,” Egan wrote in the caption.

According to Us Weeekly, the couple also attended a Los Angeles Kings hockey game together, as well as a taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Needless to say, friends and family were blindsided by the split.

“People close to Justin and Chrishell are completely shocked by Justin filing for divorce. The couple has always been incredible with no signs of things being on the rocks,” said an insider.

The last time Justin Hartley posted about Chrishell Stause on Instagram was on July 21st when he wished the “young gem of a human” a happy birthday.
