Tina also confessed that she failed to see Beyoncé’s motivation and vision for the film, and she regrets that.

Tina stated: “I am so excited about this new film that Beyonce has done for Disney!! “Black Is King” Talk about a love letter to Africa and our journey as Black people!! I could not be more proud of this film. She has worked on this forever, it seems, day and night seven days a week at a huge personal and financial sacrifice. Many times as a concerned mother, I have said to her, you are a little too obsessed with this ! and people have no idea what this cost you in time, money, and blood sweat and tears.”

She added: “Her reply, “We need this right now, Mama”!! More than ever! “Everything started in Africa! It will be worth it”!!So Thankyou Beyonce for not letting anyone ( including me) or anything stop your messaging !!! For being an activist in your way through your art that shows the beauty and majestic power and strength of our people, ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ It was definitely worth it.❤️❤️❤️❤️”

Beyoncé also spoke about the project by saying: “The events of 2020 have made the film’s vision and message even more relevant, as people worldwide embark on a historical journey. We are all in search of safety and light. Many of us want to change. I believe that when Black people tell our own stories, we can shift the world’s axis and tell our REAL history of generational wealth and richness of soul that are not told in our history books. With this visual album, I wanted to present Black history and African tradition elements, with a modern twist and a universal message, and what it truly means to find your self-identity and build a legacy. I spent a lot of time exploring and absorbing the lessons of past generations and the rich history of different African customs.”
