Tommy Chong Is Helping Cannabis Users In Need During Coronavirus Lockdown

Tommy Chong celebrated 4/20 earlier this week along with Willie Nelson for the “Come and Toke It’ fundraiser to benefit the Last Prisoner Project. The non-profit organization helps people who are still in prison because of outdated cannabis laws, but Chong has another charitable project in the works.

The 81-year-old comedian and weed legend hasn’t forgotten about the cannabis patients who are in need during the COVID-19 lockdown, and he recently told Page Six that he has a “stockpile of weed” to share.

The Cheech & Chong star said he is “slowly rationing” his stash, and he’s working with others in the medical marijuana community to help people who can’t get to dispensaries to get access to their medicine.

“There are a lot of people that depend on it and can’t get to their dispensary,” explained Chong, adding that during these difficult economic times there are patients who can’t afford their meds. “I don’t think I’ve paid for marijuana in 50 years. People give it to me for free. I can afford to give it away.”

After six decades in the entertainment business – which led to him being one of the biggest icons in the “stoner” community – Chong and his comedy partner, Cheech Marin, have decided to cash in with a new mobile game called Bud Farm.

Chong says that he and Marin have been looking to do a “Cheech and Chong video game” for a long time, and the opportunity finally came along when his son, Paris Chong, connected with the Vancouver-based cannabis games publisher LDRLY Games.

Chong says the company came up with the idea, brand, and everything else, and he and Marin are “happy as hell that it got done.” The Up In Smoke star says that LDRLY Games are excellent at what they do, so the entire project worked out very well.

Tommy Chong says that the new Bud Farm game comes at the perfect time, since everyone is at home under shelter-in-place orders. Now, people can concentrate on entertaining themselves at home with their phones, and that is exactly what this game does.

According to the game description, Cheech and Chong find themselves in the tiny hamlet of Hierba Verde, with no dope to be found. They must start growing their own, and when they do they stumble into a lucrative business empire.

“With the crooked mayor in their back-pocket, the boys are on their way to striking it rich and living out their days lying on a beach like sun-kings,” reads the description. “Unfortunately for them, Sgt Stedenko is hell-bent on putting them in jail for life. With the help a freaky cast of supporting characters, Cheech & Chong will chase their dreams of fame and fortune, while staying one step ahead of the law.”
