Tool Hits #1 On The Album Chart Following The Release Of The Band's Catalog On Streaming Platforms

According to a report from Billboard.com, Tool just landed on the top of the Billboard Artist 100 following a thirteen-year recording hiatus. The band had just made their entire back catalog available on several different streaming services.

To top it all off, Maynard James Keenan, the vocalist of the band and lyric writer, appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast this past month and made the revelation to the stand-up comedian’s massive fan base and audience.

The band managed to get their five albums on the Billboard 200 and also secured their second career Billboard Hot 100 entry following “Schism” from Lateralus back in 2001. Their latest track, “Fear Inoculum,” hit the charts at number 93.

Among the other band’s albums to chart for the first time years was Undertow, 10,000 Days, AEnima, as well as Lateralus.Opiate, their first EP, hit number 59.

Billboard reports that since the Artist 100 was first launched back in July 2014, Tool is the seventh band to hit number one including Blink-182, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Arcade Fire, Dave Matthews Band, Vampire Weekend, as well as The Raconteurs.

The Artist 100 counts a number of different measurements, including social media fan interaction, streaming, radio airplay, as well as album and track sales. Other artists to stay on top of the charts includes Drake, Billie Eilish, Khalid, and Ed Sheeran.

Tool is known by fans for their very long ambient songs and progressive-metal sound, incorporating odd time signatures and untypical instruments. Their third full-length LP, Lateralus, has gone down in history as one of the greatest records of all time.
