The New York Post said today that Tyler Perry, the Madea creator, will cover the cost of Rayshard Brooks’ funeral in addition to his children’s college fund.

Reportedly, Tyler Perry assured his family that Brooks daughters, 1, 2, 8, and his 13-year-old step-son, would all be able to go to college if they wanted too. WXIA-TV was the first to report on Tuesday that Perry was going to pay it forward to the Brooks family.

Chris Stewart, the attorney representing the fallen man’s family, confirmed that Perry would also pay for the funeral as well. Stewart said in his statement that the support offered by Perry was greatly appreciated, especially in such a circumstance in which Brooks passed away.

Stewart claimed that no family should ever have to deal with something as tragic as this. Reportedly, Garret Rolfe, a police officer in Atlanta, shot the 27-year-old man twice in the back outside of a Wendy’s this past Friday.

As most know, this all comes after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, which spurred the Black Lives Matter protests. Since the death of Brooks, tensions in the state of Georgia have arisen again, as the Police Chief, Erika Shields, resigned, and Rolfe was also fired.

This past Monday, Keisha Lance Bottoms, revealed that the police department was going to ensure more transparency through a new batch of procedures, designed to encourage accountability. As most know, Tyler Perry isn’t the only celebrity to give back to the community in recent weeks.

Last month, it was reported that the largely silent Kanye West, dropped several million dollars to help out businesses in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Moreover, pictures surfaced of the Ye rapper out in the streets protesting along with other people.

West hasn’t said anything publicly regarding the Black Lives Matter protests yet. Kim Kardashian, his wife, has also been active in the area of criminal justice reform.

The reality star, perhaps most famously, helped release Alice Marie Johnson who was serving a life sentence for drug trafficking and possessing large quantities of marijuana. Fans of Perry know that he has been a driving force in the black community.

Perry recently constructed a movie studio in Atlanta, Georgia, away from the Hollywood scene.
