Tyler Perry's Massive Studio Won't Just Be For Movies -- It Will House Displaced Women And LGBTQ Youth

Tyler Perry recently celebrated the opening of the first black-owned major studio. All the space won’t just be for production, he is planning to do some good with the multi-million-dollar establishment.

The playwright was interviewed on CBS This Morning where he opened up about the new compound. There will be ample space and assistance for women who are victims of trafficking and displaced LGBTQ youth.

‘Having a compound that’s a beautiful place right here, somewhere on this 330 acres where they’re trained in the business and they become self-sufficient. They can live in nice apartments, there’s daycare, all of these wonderful things that allows them to re-enter society and then pay it forward again.’

Perry also happily explained why he decided to make a table for himself.

‘I clearly believe that I’m ignored in Hollywood, for sure, and that’s fine. I get it. My audience and the stories that I tell are African-American stories specific to a certain audience, specific to a certain group of people that I know, that I grew up, and we speak a language. “Hollywood doesn’t necessarily speak the language. A lot of critics don’t speak that language. So, to them, it’s like, ‘What is this?’’
