Tyrese Gibson Opens Up About His Decade-Long Custody Battle With His Former Wife Over Their Daughter

It sounds like Tyrese Gibson and his former wife, Norma are still at war over the custody of their daughter, Shayla. During an interview, the actor got into more detail about their back and forth, explaining the reason why they still have this huge conflict despite their divorce taking place a decade ago!

While his career is really successful and everything seems great in his life from the outside, behind the scenes the actor has been going through a lot.

In real life, he is tangled up in an ugly custody war with Norma over their 12 year old daughter.

The exes previously got married in 2007 only to put an end to their marriage two years later.

While on The Wendy Williams Show, Tyrese, who just signed for three new Marvel movies, opened up about his situation with his family.

But while he updated fans on his custody war, he made sure to stress that he was not able to get into ‘particulars’ since the case is still open.

‘When you have a child and then there’s a situation where there might be a conflict — when you have your approach to raising a child and they have theirs, sometimes you’re far from being on the same page. No one wakes up every day and says, ‘Where is pain, where is trauma, where is conflict and I want to stay in it.’ You can be with someone for a long time and then when you finally get married, you realize, that it was not the right thing to do. I was just with my baby [Shayla],’ Gibson told the host.

He then revealed that he pays his ex wife ‘a lot’ of money every month and has been doing so since their divorce in 2009.
