Vanderpump Rules Katie Maloney Explains Why She Is Friends With Lala Kent And Not James Kennedy After Fat-Shaming Comments

Lala Kent has come a long way since her infamous “summer bodies” comment in Season 5 of Vanderpump Rules. Kent has since apologized and is now friends with just about everyone on the SUR team, which cannot be said of her former partner in crime, James Kennedy.
Kennedy has taken a lot of criticism this season for making inappropriate comments about Katie Maloney’s weight. Although Kennedy’s remarks were similar to what Kent said back in Season 5, Maloney agrees that this is a completely different situation.

“Yeah, we’ve all done that, but when you apologize and you atone and you grow, you don’t do it again,” Maloney shared. “He doesn’t do that.”
Although Kennedy is in the doghouse, Kent understands some of the motivation behind his behavior. According to Bravo TV, Kent explained how alcohol plays a big part in what Kennedy does. She also believes that he needs to address his drinking issues before he can make any other changes.
That said, most of the Vanderpump Rules women do not believe Kennedy is going to change his ways. The only exception is Ariana Madix, who thinks Kennedy could change if he undergoes some serious therapy.
The ladies of Vanderpump Rules dished on the Kennedy drama during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. They also talked about their growing need to start families of their own, with Scheana Marie revealing that she is in the middle of freezing of her eggs.
Kennedy, meanwhile, talked about his ongoing drama with his co-stars last month and expressed little regret for what he’s done. He also assured fans that he will not back down without a fight and teased that things might end different from what they expect.

There is no telling how things will shake out at the end of Season 7. Kennedy has yet to comment on Katie Maloney and Lala Kent’s interview, but if he isn’t willing to change, then the situation probably won’t resolve itself.
