Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Marie recently sat down for a chat with PEOPLE Now, People magazine’s weekday streaming talk show. And, she discussed the recent incident where Tom Sandoval called Katie Maloney a “bully” after she got James Kennedy fired. Marie agrees that Maloney used to be a bully, but now she has made some big changes.
“She was the ultimate mean girl a few years ago. But, once her and I became friends, I was just like ‘Wow. You are a completely different person.’ And, I had just never seen that soft side of her before,” said Marie.

The reality star explained that she thinks Maloney sometimes projects past hurt, and it sometimes doesn’t come across the way she wants it to. She says Maloney means well, and she has grown as a person.
Marie added that when someone insults your appearance, no matter if you do it first, it doesn’t feel good. So, she understands why Maloney got into it with Kennedy and gave Lisa Vanderpump an ultimatum about the DJ continuing to work at SUR.
During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Maloney appeared visibly stunned when the host asked her if she was a bully for getting Kennedy fired. The 32-year-old said that she was sticking up for herself, but Cohen reminded her that she has a history with ultimatums.
In 2015, Maloney told her boyfriend, Tom Schwartz, that he either had to propose or break up with her. Maloney explained at the time that, considering what happened that summer, she thought it was only fair to give Schwartz “a little shove and a little bit of an ultimatum.
Sandoval – who is Schwartz’s business partner and best friend – felt terrible for calling Maloney a bully immediately after it happened. He said that he woke up depressed about the situation because he loves Maloney.

Maloney and Sandoval got into it when he invited Kennedy on a trip to Mexico, and Sandoval mocked Maloney by doing an impression of her saying, “I can say whatever the f**k I want, to anybody. But, if somebody calls me fat, I’m getting their a** fired!.”
Katie Maloney insists she didn’t get Kennedy fired, but as VPR fans know, she went straight to Vanderpump and told her if she didn’t fire the SUR DJ, she would walk.
New episodes of Vanderpump Rules air Monday nights on Bravo.
