Vanessa Bryant Changes Name Of Kobe's Mamba Foundation To Honor Daughter Gianna

Vanessa Bryant has announced that she has made a change to the name of her late husband’s Mamba Sports Foundation so she can honor both Kobe Bryant and her 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, after the father and daughter died in a tragic helicopter crash late last month.

“Because there is no #24 without #2, we have updated the Mamba Sports Foundation to now be called the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation,” wrote Vanessa in the caption of a post that featured the foundation’s new logo. “Our mission remains the same – and stronger than ever – to provide opportunities to young people through sports.”

Vanessa thanked everyone for the outpouring of support and the kind donations as she carries on Kobe and Gigi’s legacy. And, the grieving widow hopes to empower young athletes via the foundation “in a world they left us all to help shape.”

While dealing with the life-altering tragedy, Vanessa is staying strong for her three daughters – Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and Capri, 7 months. And, according to US Weekly, she has turned to her mother, Sofia Laine, for support.

An insider says that Vanessa is “incredibly close to her mom, and her mom has been her rock throughout the past few weeks.” The source added that Laine is always with Vanessa and her girls, and she’s been “keeping Vanessa strong” and is the “weight of her support system.”

Vanessa has posted numerous memories of Kobe and Gigi on her Instagram page in recent weeks, and she has shared her grief with her more than 12 million followers. She recently wrote that her brain refuses to accept that both Kobe and Gigi are gone, and she can’t process both at the same time.

She explained that she’s trying to process Kobe being gone, but her body refuses to accept that her Gigi will never come back to her. “It feels wrong,” wrote Vanessa earlier this week. She added that she is “mad” about her daughter losing her life at such a young age because she “had so much life to live.”

However, Vanessa realizes that she needs to be strong and be there for her three daughters. She did note that she was mad that she isn’t with Kobe and Gigi, but thankful that she is here with Natalie, Bianka, and Capri. Vanessa Bryant also knows that what she is feeling is normal, and it’s part of the grieving process. She concluded by writing that she wishes Kobe and Gigi were here so that the nightmare would be over.

The public celebration of life event for Kobe and Gianna Bryant will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 24th.
