For weeks, talk show host Wendy Williams has been acting pretty strange. Not only has she been slurring her speech and tumbling onstage, but she has also called out of work for unknown health reasons. Now, her bizarre behavior has become so noticeable to viewers, that Williams decided to reveal what’s been going on.
After she slurred her words through most of her hot topics segment on Thursday’s show and forced producers to air pre-taped clips, the 54-year-old posted a lengthy Instagram statement apologizing to her fans.
I hope @WendyWilliams will be able to really take a break and work on her health over the break. The way she's speaking on the show is concerning me. #WendyWilliams

“I sincerely apologize if you feel that today’s show was less than stellar. I’m on your TV screens every day wanting to spread laughter, entertainment, and cheer. As I reported earlier in the week, I have a hairline fracture on my upper arm, which hurts like hell,” Williams explained.
She added that she has never broken anything in her life and has never taken pain medication until this week because she is in extreme pain. According to Radar Online, Williams was suggesting that it was the powerful pain meds that caused the slurred speech and odd behavior.
Is something wrong with Wendy right now. Her voice sounds weird. Hope she is ok. Worried. #WendyWilliams

“I did that to power through and try to deliver a great show for you, against the better judgement of the many people around me who genuinely care for my well-being. I really do ride or die for my craft and give 200%,” wrote Williams.
The host of The Wendy Williams Show also said that her thyroid condition has caused her some trouble.
However, Williams says she has no regrets, and she appreciates everyone’s concern for her health and wellness. She also promised her fans a “better Wendy in 2019,” after she gets some much-needed rest over the holiday break.
Even with her apology and statement, Williams’ show has taken a downward turn in the past couple of years. She collapsed onstage during a 2017 Halloween show, and she often acts so strangely that her close friends are worried.

An insider says that “something bad” is going on with Williams, and they had to cancel the December 17th episode at the last minute and air a rerun instead. The source added that for weeks, Williams has exhibited strange behavior. But, the talk show host continues to deny that anything is wrong, except for a few minor issues.
But the insider says that Williams can “barely stand at times, and has totally checked out.”
The Wendy Williams Show airs weekday mornings in syndication.
