Daytime talk show host Wendy Williams has not been on the air since December due to mysterious health issues, and a new report claims that she is “super scared” about losing her show. According to Page Six, Williams has been watching the guest hosts fill in for her, and their success is unsettling.

“She’s super scared and anxious,” says an insider. “Watching [fill-in host] Nick Cannon being a huge hit with her audience is tough for her. They’re already starting to mess with the format. It’s like watching them screw around with her baby.”

At first, Williams was only scheduled to take a break through the holidays. But, during the last few weeks, she has pushed back her return date multiple times.

Cannon filled in for Williams last week and scored some good reviews, then American Pie actor Jason Biggs followed. More guest hosts are scheduled to appear this week, and there is no word about when Williams will return.

The exact reason for Williams’ absence isn’t clear. Last month, Williams’ family announced that the beloved TV host was in the hospital due to complications from Graves’ disease. And before that, she fractured her shoulder and was wearing a sling during her last show appearance in December.

Her sabbatical could be about more than her health. Rumors have been swirling for a while that Williams is having marital problems with her husband, Kevin Hunter, who is also the show’s executive producer.

Cannon told Williams’ audience that he had spoken to Williams about that, and the 54-year-old told him that “she wanted to speak as a family unit and her, Kevin and [their son] Little Kevin said they are all good.”

However, a source told Radar Online that when Hunter sat down the “Wendy” staff last month, he ranted about leaks to the press instead of giving them an update on Williams’ health. Apparently, Hunter thinks that it is the staff’s fault that rumors of his infidelity have hit the tabloids.

He even went so far as to read “specific articles and headlines,” and the insider says that Hunter was “overly paranoid” about details of their private life making it to the press.

The strangest part of the meeting, says the source, was that Hunter didn’t give any update about how Wendy Williams’ was feeling or when she would be back. And, that is the information that the staff needs to do their jobs.
