Whitney Houston Hologram Tour 'An Evening With Whitney' Will Launch In January 2020

More than seven years after Whitney Houston’s tragic death, her fans will get the chance to see a “celebration of her best work” thanks to an upcoming hologram tour. The show “An Evening with Whitney” will feature her biggest hits, back-up singers and dancers, and a live band.

According to People Magazine, BASE Hologram is the company that is putting on the show, and they have done this before with other artists like Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly. Choreographer Fatima Robinson is producing the show, and she says that Houston – who died in 2012 at the age of 48 – was a “musical trail-blazer” and she is honored to have the opportunity to craft a show in Houston’s honor.

Houston’s sister-in-law Pat Houston says the show will be an “authentic Whitney experience,” and it will feature a digitized version of Houston performing songs like The Greatest Love Of All, I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me), and I Will Always Love You.

“A hologram show is all about the imagination and creating a ‘wow factor’ that extends to an incredible experience to enjoy for years to come,” said Pat. “Whitney is not with us but her music will live with us forever.”

The tour will begin in Mexico on January 23rd and will hit 14 different European countries in the spring of 2020, including the UK, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, and Russia. It will head to the US in the fall of 2020, but they have yet to announce specific dates and locations for that leg of the tour.

BASE Holograms CEO Brian Becker says that they hope audiences will have an experience “where fantasy becomes reality and the mind suspends disbelief” because when you believe amazing things happen. Becker added that they want fans to experience a version of Houston that they are familiar with, and one that would remind them of why she was “the quintessential musician and performer.”

Houston’s estate announced the hologram tour back in May, and they also have plans for a new album of unreleased material. There is also the possibility of a musical featuring Whitney Houston’s music.

Earlier this summer, Norwegian DJ Kygo reworked a cover of Higher Love that Houston recorded back in 1990. He released the single as a tropical house track in August, and it hit #1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart.
