Zooey Deschanel's Husband Jacob Pechenik Officially Files For Divorce

According to a report from People.com, Zooey Deschanel’s husband recently filed for divorce following their split. On the 18th of October, Friday, Jacob Pechenik signed the petition which was filed in an LA court claims People Magazine.

The legal document filed in court cited the 8th of January, 2019, as the date of their official separation. Fans of the couple know they were married for approximately four years and had two children together, Charlie and Elsie, 2 and 4 respectively.

In the past, Zooey has stated that her children are, without a doubt, the most important thing to her. In fact, the Yes Man alum claimed her children are on her mind when she wakes up in the morning and right before she goes to bed at night.

It’s unclear exactly how the time will be divided amongst each other, but People reported that Pechenik requested both physical and legal custody of their two young toddlers. It’s only been four years since Zooey and Jacob first got engaged in January of 2015. They later got married that summer.

Not long after, Jacob and Deschanels had their first baby, Elsie, during the summer months of July 2015. It was back in September when the pair first revealed they were breaking up, saying in the statement that they were “better off” being friends.

A source who spoke with People Magazine stated that while they first revealed their separation around two months ago, they had actually been broken up for a few months before that. Reportedly, Zooey is now in a relationship with the Property Brothers star, Jonathan Scott.

Scott and Deschanel were first spotted walking hand-in-hand in Silver Lake, California, and they confirmed their romance on Instagram not long after they went on a double-date with Scott’s brother, Drew Scott, along with his wife, Linda Phan.

Before dating Deschanel, Scott was married to Kelsy Ully, but later broke up with her and started dating a Las Vegas dancer, Kristin Ratatori.
